Kuan Yin Teng Temple Penang is one of the oldest temples in Penang and it is situated in Georgetown. It is located in the intersection of China Street and Jalan Kapitan Keling.

Overview

Kuan Yin Teng Temple Penang is known as the Goddess of Mercy Temple. It was built in the 70s. The temple is always crowded as early 6am in the morning to 8pm at night. It is very active almost every day with devotees makes offerings and prayers. Just outside of the temple, you can see quite a number of stalls, selling birds and flowers. You can see worshippers buying the birds not to rare but release them, performing good deed as giving them freedom.

There is a church namely the St. George's Anglican Church near to the temple. It is the oldest Anglican Church in Southeast Asia and it is known as one of the most beautiful landmarks in Georgetown. The nearest landmark other than this church is the Cheong Fatt Sze Mansion which acts as a hotel cum museum architecture. Do walk to Little India Penang to experience Indian food and shop in India stores. If you are beach lovers, go to Gurney Drive and Batu Feringghi to enjoy the cool breeze by the sea.
