The 25 acre organic Penang Tropical Fruit Farm is located approximately 2km down the road of Teluk Bahang.
It requires a one hour drive from Penang Bridge. It is located on the terrain hill of Teluk Bahang. It is
situated about 800 feet above sea level and its geographical location makes it ideal location to cultivate
all kinds of tropical as well as sub-tropical fruit trees.
Overview
The Tropical Fruit Farm possesses as much as 250 types of tropical and sub-tropical fruit trees.
The trees species are not only restricted from Malaysia's but there are from all over the world
including South and Central America, India, Central Africa, the Middle East just to name a few.
It is considered as an organic farm as they use organic fertilizers such as fruit waste generated
from the farm. There are many varieties of fruit such as Watermelon, Jambu and not to mention
the King of Fruit, Durians. There are a few packages offered by the farm to satisfy the visitors.
Farm tours will be conducted periodically during the day. The tour takes up around 50 minutes.
You have the chance to enjoy and taste some freshly squeezed juice during after the tour. There
is a package including fruit tasting and BBQ lunch or dinner. Thus, pick the package you fond
of and enjoy the day there.
There is one nearby attraction that you should pay it a visit - Teluk Bahang Beach. The beach
is idyllic with white fine sand and cool water. Tranquility and serenity environment is what the
beach offers to every tourist. This is the ideal getaway beach where there is no hustle bustle.
However, it is not suitable to swim at the sea due to the presence of jellyfish.
The best place to taste all the food in Penang is in Gurney Drive. Gurney Drive has stretches
of hawker stalls where you can tantalize your taste buds with the famous local food including rojak,
assam laksa and wanton mee, just to name a few. The next best thing is that not far from the food
paradise, you get to have the best experience of shopping in Penang as Gurney Plaza Mall situated
there. From budget, affordable, discounted items to high end brands are all available in that very
mall. It is the second biggest mall in Penang after the existence of Queensbay Mall. Thus, the most
popular hotels in Penang are situated just nearby. Most tourists will spend their nights in those
hotels as it is very convenient to get to any tourist attractions in Penang.
Transport
From Penang International Airport, you can take the cab to Tropical Fruit Farm. The ride will
take up an estimated time of 45 minutes depending on the traffic flow.
The alternate way to get to Fruit Farm is by taking bus. From Georgetown to Teluk Bahang,
take the Rapid Penang Bus numbered 101. From Teluk Bahang to the Tropical Fruit Farm, take
the bus numbered 501. The 101 numbered bus will terminate at Teluk Bahang and so passengers
need to switch to the 501 numbered bus to get to the Tropical Fruit Farm.
