The Tropical Spice Garden is located at Jalan Teluk Bahang, in Ayer Itam, Penang Malaysia. You can spot this fascinating destination in between Batu Feringghi and Teluk Bahang. It is situated in between two hotels in Penang, namely the Bayview Beach Resort and Mutiara Hotel.

Overview

Get ready to be amazed as this is the only award winning spice garden in the whole of South East Asia.There are more than 500 species of local as well as imported flora and spices form Malaysia and every other corner of the world. The tropical spice garden is divided into 11 mini garden walks. They are water garden, spice terraces, jungle trail and more. There is also a museum located in the garden itself where you can obtain a lot of information regarding all these spices planting around. There is too, a small souvenir shop in the garden and a sea facing Spice Cafe where you can relax and dine in there. Most local visitors visit the garden just to attend the cooking class there. It is conducted three times per week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. This garden is indeed an ideal place to spend your time with your kids and family.

Another educational visit located nearby is the Penang Butterfly Farm. Penang Butterfly Farm is the world's first live butterfly and insect sanctuary. There are a total of 4000 butterflies in the farm including 150 different species of Malaysian butterflies. This live museum of the beautiful butterflies is definitely worth a visit. Want to escape the heat and the hustle of Georgetown, do go to Penang Hill. There, you can take a ride on the funicular train to reach the summit of the hill. The ride will take as much as 30 minutes to reach to the top of the hill.

It is not a full trip if you did not stop by the beaches while visiting Penang. The famous beaches in Penang are Batu Feringghi, Tanjung Bungah and Teluk Bahang beaches. Teluk Bahang Beach (Pantai Teluk Bahang) is located just 5km away from Georgetown. It is a friendly fisherman village. Its tranquility and serenity offered is what attracts tourists flock from all around the world. However, Teluk Bahang Beach is not suitable to go for a swim as jellyfish is present there. When it is time for food, just get to any cafe nearby and you will have a taste of Penang local delicacies.

From Georgetown, take a taxi and head to Batu Feringghi. The ride will take an estimated total time of 20 minutes.

From Weld Quay Bus terminal, take the Rapid Penang bus numbered 101 and you will reach the Tropical Spice Garden in no time.
