The Bukit Jambul Orchid and Hibiscus Garden is located at Persiaran Bukit Jambul, in Bayan Lepas, Penang, Malaysia. It is situated close to a one of the famous hotels in Penang, Equatorial Hotel. It is also located near to the Penang International Airport.

Overview

The Bukit Jambul Orchid and Hibiscus Garden spreads across a 2 acres land. It is established by two friends, one of them is a horticulturist and the other is a herpetologist. The park is often packed with crowds of locals and also foreigners. The park offers a large variety of plants and animals from all around the world and also from Malaysia itself. There are a pair of Bengal tigers, emu and ostrich, just to name a few and for the plants, there is a pair of hibiscus named after the former Prime Minister, Dr. Mahathir Mohamed and his wife.

Besides, the world's largest tiger orchid can be seen in the park. The orchid is measured as 3 inches across the flower and it blooms only once a year, during the month of September. Reptiles are one of the showcases of the park. There are snakes and crocodiles around in the park. Moreover, there is a cactus garden, snake show, pottery corner and more. Thus, explore the garden is a must.

As the city centre of Penang Island, Georgetown is very famous and filled with visitors all around the world. People do neglect the fact that there are too, many places of attraction in Bayan Lepas. There is an off island named Jerejak Island (Pulau Jerejak) nearby. It is well known for it possesses unique flora and fauna. It is an ideal place to go to get a peace of mind. Bayan Lepas is also where Penang's biggest shopping mall located. The shopping mall is named as Queensbay Shopping Mall. There are a wide range of food and clothes as well as electronic gadgets selling in the mall. Cinema and arcade centre are there in the mall too.

Take the mini bus from Komtar to Relau. Board down the bus at Jalan Tun Dr. Awang and walk into Persiaran Bukit Jambul. The street leads to Equatorial Hotel and after a distance, you will reach the Bukit Jambul Orchid and Hibiscus Garden. You can also reach the destination by a taxi from anywhere in Penang.
